Allegedly harassed by three other medical students, 1st year MBBS student commits suicide
Navi Mumbai: In an unfortunate incident, a first-year medical student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room. The possible reason for his extreme step is now appearing to be alleged harassment by three medical students.
Following the incident, the Karjat police have initiated legal action against three accused students residing in the hostel for abetment to suicide after an FIR was registered under IPC sections 306 for abetment to suicide and 34 for acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention.
The deceased has been identified as a 19-year-old student who was a resident of Bhiwandi. He was a student of Dr NY Tasgaonkar Institute of Medical Sciences in Karjat, Raigad.

While investigating the scene, the police found a suicide note which mentioned the names of three students including his room partner who were accused of harassing him over the past two months.
Based on the details provided in the suicide note, the student claimed to have experienced alleged harassment after he had enrolled for admission to the college in October this year. However, police are in the process of identifying the reason behind his extreme step.
According to TOI news report, the incident took place on December 1 when the student was found hanging in his hostel room and police were informed after his body was recovered by the hostel authorities.
After arriving at the scene, police conducted a preliminary investigation and recovered a suicide note. Additionally, an investigation has been launched by the police to dig deep into the matter. The presence of the suicide note will expedite their inquiry.
Devastated over the loss, the father of the deceased filed a complaint at the police station against the three students on December 4. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case and the three students have been booked for abetment to suicide.
