Andhra Pradesh: To promote medical education, the Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to operationalise a new government medical teaching hospital in Piduguralla, Palnadu district.
According to officials, outpatient services are expected to commence there by April 15. The officials confirmed that admissions to MBBS course will commence in the 2026-27 academic year, with the government applying to the National Medical Commission for approval of 100 seats.
On Wednesday, State Health Secretary Saurabh Gaur reviewed the ongoing construction works. In view of a potential inspection, he instructed that the construction work be completed by the end of May, in compliance with regulatory norms.
He also emphasised the weekly monitoring of progress and called for the timely recruitment of doctors and paramedical staff. However, the formal date for the full commencement of medical services will be decided following consultation with Chief Minister N.
Meanwhile, Mr Gaur also confirmed that admissions to the MBBS course will commence in the 2026-27 academic session. The government is applying to the National Medical Commission (NMC) for the approval of 100 seats.
According to the The Hindu mdia news report, arrangements are being made for sanitation, security, oxygen supply, and other support systems, and a trial run is planned for after April 1st.
Additionally, District Collector Kritika Shukla directed officials to ensure an uninterrupted supply of water and electricity, and to develop transportation facilities, including a bus stop near the hospital.
