Armed Intruder enters MP's Medical College hostel, attempts sexual assault on medical student, Medicos On Protest

Dewas: A shocking incident came to light from Amaltas Institute of Medical Sciences, Dewas, where an unidentified armed miscreant broke into a girl's hostel room through the duct at night and allegedly attempted to sexually assault and rob a medical student at knifepoint.

When the college administration reportedly dismissed the allegations, calling it a hallucination, a large group of medical students staged a demonstration outside the campus demanding justice for the student, strict action against the culprit and accountability from college authorities

Several videos of the student protest went viral on social media, showing students marching around the campus in solidarity with the victim. Another widely shared video captured the backside of the hostel where the incident occurred. In the footage, female students pointed out a large open passageway, highlighting how easily someone could enter the building through it.

According to a latest media report by Dainik Bhaskar, the incident took place when an unknown intruder entered her room late Tuesday night through a duct. While she was asleep, he allegedly climbed on top of her and held a knife to her neck. The accused reportedly attempted assault for nearly ten minutes.

Showing quick thinking, the girl asked him for a glass of water. The moment he got off her, she ran out of the room and locked it. Her screams alerted other hostel residents, but the miscreant managed to flee through the window before anyone could catch him.

Following the incident, the students informed the college administration about the incident. However, it has been reported that the authorities, instead of taking action, dismissed the incident as a hallucination, even though the student was reportedly fully conscious and aware.

This enraged the students, and hundreds of medical students gathered and protested outside the college. Members of the ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) also joined them. The protesters demanded immediate action and accountability from college authorities.

The demonstration intensified when the students blocked a key road near the college, disrupting traffic for about an hour. The blockade was lifted after police intervention, and students shifted their protest to the service road.

Throughout the protest, students accused the hospital staff of trying to suppress the matter.

Speaking to IANS, Amit Solanki Police Station Incharge said "An incident of attempted rape by an outsider on a girl residing in the hostel has come to light... The student statement has been recorded, and an FIR has been registered..."
