Churachandpur Medical College with 100 MBBS seats will be functional in September: Manipur CM
Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed that the Churachandpur Medical College will be able to start its first session from September this year with intake capacity of 100 seats.
Imphal: Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday inaugurated various infrastructural projects and laid foundation stone for the construction of College of Nursing at Churachandpur district.
The Chief Minister inaugurated Girls Hostel of GNM Training School, Multipurpose Hall, Mini Secretariat and Sadbhavna Mandap, handed over vehicles to ADC, Churachandpur and also launched mass plantation drive in the district.
Speaking at the Van Mahotsava celebration held at District Training Centre, Mini Secretariat, N. Biren Singh said that the government is for the people and will always work for the people's welfare to bring development in all sectors. He maintained that the State Government had come up with many infrastructure development projects in the district. Informing that the Churachandpur Medical College will be able to start its first session from September this year with intake capacity of 100 seats, he added.

He also recalled that the State Government had earlier dedicated a Model School at Singhat with a cost of Rs 24 crore, distributed three ambulances to the Autonomous District Council of the district, set up a PSA Oxygen Plant among others.
Mr Singh informed that he had visited the district with much dedication and interest to start the mass tree plantation programme in connection with Van Mahotsav with the coordination of certain Civil Society Organisations.
He also expressed happiness to learn that leaders of more than 200 villages had come out voluntarily in support of the mass tree plantation programme.
The Chief Minister further stated that damage to ecological balance and large scale deforestation had been the major cause of global warming and others deadly diseases. As such, mass tree plantation programme was being taken up to restore the balance of nature. He thanked the Forest Department and other voluntary organisations for their efforts and support in such initiative. He stated that many villages in the district had already cleared the poppy plantations and started plantations of other economical and fruit bearing plants. Around 1 lakh saplings had been distributed for the same, he added.
