GMC Omandurar PG Medico allegedly commits suicide by injecting self with drug
Chennai: In an unfortunate incident, a postgraduate student at Omandurar Government Medical College allegedly committed suicide by administering a lethal injection into his body causing a drug overdose.
The police found the victim in the room with his hands tied with a black waist cord. An empty syringe was found next to his body prompting the investigators to determine that the death was a suicide. However, the syringe has been sent to the forensic department for a medical analysis to determine the harmful substance it contained.
According to the preliminary investigation by the police, the student took his own life due to a family conflict that arose from his wish to marry his uncle's daughter, which was ultimately rejected. This denial led to a dispute within his family. The student was in his first year of PG studies at the medical college and a native of Ezhayiram Pannai in Virudhunagar.

As per DT NEXT news report, the incident took place after the student went to his hostel room on Tuesday and locked his door after completing dinner, his duties and classes. He shared the room with another classmate. When the roommate reached his room, he knocked on the door several times but the door did not open . After that, the roommate slept in a friend's room.
Around 7 am on Wednesday, the roommate again knocked on the door but did not receive a response. When the student did not step out of his room, his roommate and friends became worried and therefore informed the warden. Later, they broke open the door and saw him lying unconscious on his bed.
He was immediately rushed to the Omandurar Government Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. Afterwards, the police were informed who conducted a preliminary investigation and found no suicide note.
They recovered his laptop, mobile phone, and other documents from his room and the empty syringe. A case was registered and an investigation is underway.
