Health Ministry approves 50 MBBS seats at AIIMS Rewari for 2026-27

Haryana: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Majra, Rewari, Haryana, has got the central government's approval for 50 MBBS seats for the 2026-27 academic session.
According to Hindustan Times report, Gurugram MP and Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh informed recently that the process has already been commenced, with the Union Health Ministry approving the medical seats.
In this regard, an Under Secretary at the Union Ministry of Health issued a letter on March 23. Citing the letter, Singh stated that this approval grants permission to commence an MBBS course at AIIMS Rewari, with an initial intake of 50 students annually, starting from the 2026-27 academic session. With this approval, the institute can soon launch medical courses and OPD services, he said, quoted HT
The upcoming AIIMS Rewari will feature a 750-bed hospital and an OPD facility capable of serving 1,500 patients daily. The campus will comprise a 100-seat medical college, 25 super-speciality departments, and a nursing college. Furthermore, facilities such as private wards, trauma beds, and AYUSH beds are also planned. A night shelter, guest house, 1,000-seat auditorium, hostels, and residential complexes will be constructed.
Additionally, over 1,700 officers and employees are to be recruited. Therefore, advertisements for administrative positions at the institute have already been issued, and recruitment for other positions is underway.
Meanwhile, the Union Health Secretary has sent a proposal to the Department of Expenditure regarding the filling of technical and non-technical posts. Although approval from the Union Ministry of Finance is still pending for certain posts, it is expected to be received shortly.
In addition, the appointment of doctors is essential to commence OPD services at AIIMS Rewari; therefore, steps are being taken to expedite this process, Singh stated, adds HT
