IMS-SUM hospital gets Medical Education Department
Bhubaneshwar: The Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital's SOA's faculty of medical sciences now has a Medical Education Department that was inaugurated on Monday.
In accordance with the rules laid out by the National Medical Commission, medical colleges are required to have a Medical Education department that functions to train faculty members to impart quality education.
Since 15 years, the Medical Education Unit at IMS and SUM Hospital has been operational and is now converted into a Medical Education Department.

As per the latest media report in The Statesman, SOA's Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the institute Prof. Gangadhar Sahoo inaugurated the department.
Medical Superintendent Prof. Pusparaj Samantasinhar, Additional Dean Prof. Sanghamitra Mishra, Convenor of the Medical Education Department Prof. Sudhanshu Sekhar Mishra, Head of the department Prof. Prakash Kumar Sahu,
and other faculty members were present.
Speaking on the occasion, they said that the department would greatly help students get a quality education. "Training and research in the future while churning out quality doctors," they said.
The Institute of Medical Sciences and Sum Hospital (IMS and SUM Hospital) is the medical school of the Siksha 'O' Anusandhan in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. This institute gained permission in 2007 from the Medical Council of India to start the MBBS courses in the medical stream.
It provides undergraduate courses in medicine and dentistry and postgraduate courses in non-clinical departments. It has begun providing post-graduation in clinical subjects like surgery and anesthesia.
It provides specialty services including Neurosurgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, urology, oncological surgery, surgical gastroenterology, endocrinology, rheumatology, cardiology, neurology, nephrology, plastic surgery, and neo-natalogy.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that two Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) in Kamala Nehru and Sonawane Maternity Hospital has been selected to implement the labour room quality improvement initiative (LaQshya) programme.
