Kalpana Chawla Govt Medical College Haryana gets NMC permission to start 2 new PG courses

Haryana: In a boost to medical education in Haryana, Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College has received permission from the National Medical Commission (NMC) to start two new postgraduate courses from the upcoming academic session 2025-26.
In this regard, Dr MK Garg, Director of KCGMC, informed the Tribune that a total of four seats for ophthalmology and three seats for ENT courses have been approved by the NMC. Thus, with a total of seven PG seats in the two courses, KCGMC offers 21 seats in nine courses. Therefore, with these courses, the college continues to expand its postgraduate academic portfolio.
“The introduction of new postgraduate courses in ophthalmology and ENT will significantly strengthen our clinical training facilities. It will also provide more opportunities for young doctors to pursue advanced specialisation within the region,” said the Director.
The college offered four seats each in anatomy, biochemistry, and microbiology, three in physiology, and two each in pharmacology, forensic medicine, and paediatrics. In addition, officials also expressed hope that psychiatry would soon be introduced
In addition, KCGMC also offers various Diplomate of National Board (DNB) courses, including seven in anaesthesia, four each in general medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, and pathology, and three in obstetrics and gynaecology. In this regard, officials are optimistic about receiving approval for additional DNB courses such as radiology, pathology, and pulmonary medicine in the near future.
KCGMC was established in 2017 with its first batch of 100 MBBS students. Now, the college has been granted recognition by the NMC for 120 MBBS seats.
