Karnataka Medical College announces Rs 55000 monthly stipend for PG Medicos, asks to join back duties
Mangalore: Through a recent notification, the KS Hedge Medical Academy has announced a monthly stipend of Rs 55,000 for the Post Graduate (PG) candidates who appeared for the University Theory examination in May 2021, and asked them to join back their duties in the respected departments from May 10, 2021, without fail.
The medical institute has also mentioned deferring the practical examinations of PG students for an indefinite period of time. As per the note, the exams would now probably be conducted in November/December 2021.
This comes after the recent announcements made by the Prime Minister's Office to tackle the pandemic. Medical Dialogues team had recently reported that in a major slew of announcements, the Prime Minister's Office had announced its decision to postpone NEET-PG for at least 4 months and utilize the services of fresh pass-outs for COVID duties.

It was also decided to deploy Medical Interns in Covid Management duties under the supervision of their faculty, utilize the services of the Final year MBBS students for teleconsultation and monitoring mild Covid cases, and continue utilizing the services of Final Year PG students as residents until fresh batches of PG students have joined.

Following the announcements, the KS Hedge Medical Academy in the office note dated 06.05.2021 mentioned, "As per the PM Authorities Key decisions and the notification from the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Nitte(Deemed to be University) the postgraduate candidates who have appeared for the University Theory examination in May 2021 are hereby informed to join back to their duties in their respective Departments from 10th May 2021 without fail. A stipend of Rs.55,000/ per month will be paid for these PGs."
