Lack of basic facilities: GMC Rajouri Medicos sit on Dharna
Rajouri: Accusing the college administration of denying basic facilities to the MBBS students, the medicos belonging to the Government Medical College, Rajouri on Monday staged a massive protest alleging that the lack of infrastructure was affecting their studies and career.
As per the allegations by the students, they do not even have proper hostel facilities. Besides, the new college campus in Maira village does not have proper water supply, electricity, and adequate transportation facilities, adds Jagran.
Blocking the entrance of the Associated Hospital of GMC Rajouri, the students prevented the movement of the attendants as well as the hospital staff, except for the patients.
The protest finally ended with the intervention by the District Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Vikas Kund. Later, the delegation of students met the District Deputy Commissioner and conveyed their problems to him.
In turn, they have been assured that following proper conversation with the medical college management, the issue will be solved at the earliest.

As per the latest media report by Jagran, the medicos alleged that even though the second MBBS batch is studying in the institute, they do not even have the basic facilities such as proper hostel. Besides, they claimed that there is neither proper water supply, proper electricity at the new campus of GMC Rajouri at Maira village.
They further complained about inadequate transportation for the students alleging that there are only three buses as conveyance. In fact, the drivers of the buses drop the students midway, alleged the students as they further claimed that the inadequate infrastructure was affecting the career and studies of the medicos.
The daily further adds that when the management of the Medical College and the Associated Hospital tried to suppress the agitation, the students denied to cooperate.
Finally, the District Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Vikas Kund intervented and the pacified the protest. Following this, a delegation of the students met the District Deputy Commissioner and discussed the issues faced by them. The students have been assured by the Deputy Commissioner that all the issues will be solved at the earliest so that the medicos can pursue their studies without any problems.
