Medical Colleges that do not have HMIS should start HMIS by 10th October: NMC
New Delhi: Reminding the medical colleges about the mandatory implementation of Hospital Management Information System (HMIS), the National Medical Commission (NMC) has once again written to the heads of the medical colleges directing them to comply with the directions.
The Apex medical education regulatory body pointed out that only a few medical colleges have shared the details HMIS API and directed the remaining colleges to share the details of API at: vaibhav.khokhar@nic.in, bansal.ankita@nic.in with a copy to director nme@nme.ory.in by next week.
NMC clarified, "The Medical Colleges who do not have HMIS are directed to start the HMIS in their MCH/s by 10th October, 2022 without failure."
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that NMC had released guidelines and user manual for the Implementation of AEBAS, HMS in institutes and Connecting CCTV feed to Command and Control Center at NMC. In this regard, the Commission had directed the medical colleges to submit the info in the google form.
Referring to this, NMC in the recent order dated October 04, 2022 mentioned, "This is in continuation of various letters of NMC on above stated subject. Although the co-operation from Medical Colleges for implementation of IT initiatives of NMC is encouraging. However, in spite of several follow up by staff/ officers of NMC, some of the Medical Colleges have not complied the directions."
Therefore, the Commission asked the medical colleges to submit the info by next week. Besides, the colleges which do not have HIMS system have been directed to commence the same within October 10, 2022.
In this regard, the NMC notification read, "NMC has made implementation of HMIS in all Medical Colleges mandatory. For those Medical Colleges having prior existing HMIS, API of patient registration module needs to be shared with NMC. But till date, very few Medical Colleges have shared the details as per requirement of API. Hence, it is directed to all remaining Medical Colleges to share the detailsof API at: vaibhav.khokhar@nic.in, bansal.ankita@nic.in with a copy to director nme@nme.ory.in by next week. The Medical Colleges who do not have HMIS are directed to start the HMIS in their MCH/s by 10th October, 2022 without failure."
"The NMC's team has been interacting with all the Medical Colleges through all mediums of communication such as e mail/whatsapp/sms/telephonically. Despite all the above engagement, some Medical Colleges are paced ahead in HMIS API creation and sharing of API while a few have still not started at all," stated the Apex medical Commission.
"It is therefore instructed to implement HMIS and share API of patient registration module as directed above in a time bound manner not later than 10th October, 2022. Failure in this would be viewed seriously. It is also informed that for any new applications of renewal, recognition, continuation of recognition, establishment of new medical college, increase in UG/PG seats, it is must for Medical College to have a fully functioning HMIS with OPD/IPD registration module, casualty and emergency module, OT-minor and major surgeries module, LMIS (Laboratory Management Information system) module depicting daily registration of lab tests done including pathological procedures, radiological procedures, registration module, obstetrics and gynaecology ward module depicting registration of LSCS and normal deliveries module," added the notification.
