Mirzapur Medical College Near Completion, Named After Maa Vindhyavasini

The Maa Vindhyavasinin Autonomous State Medical College is near completion in the city of Mirzapur.

Mirzapur: It comes as a relief to many residents of Mirzapur that a medical college with better facilities is near completion in the city. The government has named the college Maa Vindhyavasini Autonomous State Medical College and divisional hospital and women's hospital in the district will also be operated under this institute.

According to a recent report by Navbharat Times, the medical college is all set to take off and awaits the final completing touches. The charge for the same has been given to Dr S.P Singh.

It has been revealed that the medical college will function in two parts – a new building has been constructed at Pipradand for the medical college. This will function as the hostel, to provide accommodation to both, students and doctors.

As mentioned above, the district hospital and women's hospital have been brought under the medical college. Medical facilities will be provided here and the college hospital will consist of a total of 350 beds, to begin with. This news comes as a relief for the local population, who, up until now, had to travel to nearby cities because local hospitals were inadequate in terms of infrastructure and faculties. It is also noteworthy that aspiring medical students will no longer have to leave behind their family and travel to other cities in order to pursue their medical education.

While the staff consists of 28 doctors as of now, it is proposed to appoint 100 doctors once the medical college has been complete and is functional. Dr. Alok, SIC, Divisional Hospital, informed Navbharat TImes that the appointment process is underway and teaching doctors and professors will also be a part of these 100 faculty members.

The establishment of the medical college is a beacon of hope, not just for the locals but for the entire medical fraternity, which was found to be severely understaffed and overworked, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
