MNR Medical College Accused of Charging Fees for Cloakroom Services
Hyderabad: In an alarming incident, several candidates appearing for the Group II exams on Sunday alleged that an examination centre at MNR Medical College charged them extra fees to store their personal belongings. The candidates claimed they were asked to pay between Rs 50 and Rs 100 to have their mobile phones, bags, and other items securely stored in the cloakroom.
The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) had allotted a total of 1,183 students to the examination centre at MNR Medical College for the Group II exams. According to reports, when some candidates refused to pay the requested fee, the management reportedly declined to take responsibility for their belongings. The allegations raised by the candidates prompted an investigation into the matter.

Upon learning of the incident, Additional Collector Chandrashekhar visited the exam centre to look into the claims. During his visit, he directed the college management to immediately halt the collection of any charges from the candidates and ordered them to refund the collected amount to the candidates.
As per the latest media report in Hans India, TGPSC Chairman Burra Venkateswam told The Hans India, “The commission will see that no such charges are levied. Adding, the commission will give instructions strictly. Normally, the class IV staff of these institutions resort to such activities, which we will promptly prohibit.”
