NMC Directs All Medical Colleges To Organize International Yoga Day On 21st June, details
Delhi: Through a recent notice, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed all the Government and Private Medical Colleges as well as Medical Colleges of Deemed Universities to organize International Yoga Day on 21.06.2023.
On 11th December 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared 21st June the "International Day of Yoga." Since then, International Yoga Day is observed on the 21st June every year worldwide. Keeping this in mind, NMC has directed the medical colleges to organize International Yoga Day on 21.06.2023.
"All Medical Colleges/ Institutions must encourage the students/ professionals/employees and their families to participate in the event for creating awareness among the masses about the benefits of Yoga," stated the NMC.
The day can be observed by following the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) available at the link: https://yoga.ayush.gov.in/common-yoga-protocol through online or offline mode. This Common Yoga Protocol comprises day-to-day Yoga practices that not only benefit physical health but also the mental well-being of the individual.
The Ministry of AYUSH has formulated Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) to create general awareness among people and the community to get harmony & peace through Yoga. The information, techniques, and suggestions mentioned in this yoga protocol are not a substitute for the medical advice of a physician. In a particular case that a person may require diagnosis or medical attention, consult their health care provider before practicing Yoga.
The process like Invocation, Sadilaja/Cālana Kriyās /Loosening Practices, Yogāsanas, Kapālabhāti, Prānāyāma, Dhyāna, Sankalpa, and Śantih Pātha are to be followed during the World Yoga Day. There are various kinds of Yogāsanas, including standing postures, the tree posture, the hands to feet posture, the half wheel posture, the triangle posture, the firm/auspicious posture, the thunderbolt posture, the half camel posture, camel posture, the hare posture, stretched up-frog posture, the spinal twist posture, the crocodile posture, the cobra posture, the bridge posture, raised feet posture, half plough posture, the wind releasing posture, and the corpse/ dead body posture to carried out on that day.
Yoga is a trend that has been flourishing over the years; rather, it has become a trendsetter in maintaining physical and mental well-being. Each Yogic activity is key to improving flexibility, strength, balance, and harmony.
