NMC directs medical colleges to participate in surveys under Supreme Court's National Task force on mental health

National Medical Commission
New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced the launch of the official website of the National Task Force (NTF), established under the direction of the Supreme Court of India, to address mental health concerns and suicide prevention among students in educational institutions.
The Supreme Court, through its order dated March 24, 2025, constituted the task force under the Ministry of Education to examine the causes of student distress, discuss preventive strategies, and recommend measures to promote emotional well-being in campuses across the country.
As per the notice issued by the NMC’s Policy and Coordination Division, as part of its deliberations, the National Task Force has launched its website on 8th August 2025. The website serves as a central platform to gather diverse perspectives from key stakeholders including students of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs); Parents of such students; Faculty Members; Mental Health Service Providers; and Institutional Representative. It also seeks inputs from General Public, including friends or family members of students affected by suicide, alumni, NGOs, media professionals, and other concerned citizens.

The portal hosts structured online survey questionnaires, available in English and Hindi, designed to collect anonymous and confidential inputs on a wide range of themes including Campus environment, inclusivity and belongingness; Sources of distress and systemic discrimination; Existing support systems and grievance redressal mechanisms; and Suggestions for improving student wellbeing.
Among different categories of Surveys, Institutional Surveys are also being conducted to gather information from Higher Education Institutions, which can only be filled in through AISHE User Credential assigned to HEIs.
All the Medical Colleges/Institutions under the administrative domain of NMC are requested to:
(i) Visit the website and participate in the relevant surveys;
(ii) Disseminate the Website Link and survey information among Students and Faculties under their administrative control;
(iii) Encourage timely and sincere participation in the Surveys.
