Palamu, Dumka, Hazaribagh medical colleges get NMC renewal permission for MBBS admissions this year
Dhanbad: The Medical Assessment and Rating Board of National Medical Commission (NMC) has decided to renew its permission for three Jharkhand based medical colleges in Palamu, Dumka and Hazaribagh.
The apex medical education regulatory body's permission for MBBS admission at these medical colleges has been renewed for the academic sessions 2022-2023, reports Lagatar 24.
Already, the member president of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board of NMC has shot off a mail along with a letter of approval for MBBS admission to the Principal of Dumka based Phulo Jhanno Medical College, Palamu based Medinirai Medical College and Hazaribag based Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College.
These medical colleges had received the NMC nod for 100 MBBS seats each last year. Medical Dialogues had been reporting about the issue regarding pending approval for these three medical colleges in Palamu, Dumka and Hazaribagh. Previously, NMC had put the MBBS admission in these three Jharkhand based medical colleges on hold citing lack of necessary facilities at the establishments.
Stalling the MBBS admission at these three medical colleges in Jharkhand, NMC had highlighted the deficit of faculty members, absence of libraries, and laboratory equipment.
Even back in 2020, these three medical colleges were barred by NMC for admitting students in the MBBS course and back then the Chief Minister Hemant Soren had written to NMC and requested the apex medical body to reconsider its decision. However, the commission hadn't budged and didn't allow fresh admission in the last session.

However, finally NMC approved the MBBS admission at these three medical colleges and now the Apex medical body has renewed its permission for the same.
As per the latest media report by Lagatar 24, the MBBS admission at these three medical colleges in Jharkhand was uncertain since NMC had not given its nod for the 2022-2023 academic session. Recently, the Principal of Dumka Medical College Dr Arun Kumar Choudhary and outgoing principal of Palamu Medical College Dr Shailendra Kumar confirmed about the NMC's renewal of permission.
However, the Hazaribagh Medical College did not receive the mail until Sunday. Meanwhile, a Senior official of the State Health Department's Medical Education wing has also confirmed about the NMC permission for these three medical colleges. The NMC approval is for the 3rd MBBS Batch admission in these medical institutes.
In this regard, the Letter by the Member President of NMC board mentioned, "I am directed to convey the approval of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) for the renewal of permission for admission of the 3rd batch (2nd renewal) against the intake of 100 MBBS at your institution. The MARB has approved after consideration of the affidavit submitted by you."
