Rajasthan : 23 new medical colleges to come up under centrally sponsored scheme
New Delhi: In Rajasthan, around 23 new medical colleges have been sanctioned by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under three phases of a centrally sponsored scheme, out of which seven colleges have become functional so far.
The scheme for the "Establishment of new medical colleges attached with existing district/referral hospitals", provides financial support to the states/UTs to establish medical colleges by upgrading the district hospitals in districts which do not have either a government or a private medical college.

While giving an oral reply in the Lok Sabha, the minister of health and family welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare administers the centrally sponsored scheme "to increase the availability of health professionals and to improve tertiary healthcare." The minister stated, "Fund sharing between the Central Government and States is in the ratio of 90:10 for NE/special category States and 60:40 for other States"
The minister was responding to a question from the MP, Diya Kumari in the Lok Sabha of the parliament.
The following 23 medical colleges were sanctioned under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for 'Establishment of new medical colleges attached with existing district/referral hospitals'.

Medical Dialogues team on Dec 4, 2021 had reported that under the centrally sponsored scheme, a total number of 23 new medical colleges had been approved in Rajasthan in last three years. Mos Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar had informed Rajya Sabha. He further informed the upper house of Parliament that an amount of Rs 958.40 crore had been released by the central Govt for constituting new medical colleges in Rajasthan.
