Tragic Death of MBBS Student in Road Accident in Bundi, fellow medicos protest
Bundi: In a tragic incident in Bundi, Rajasthan, a MBBS student lost his life in a road accident, sparking protests from fellow students who are now demanding justice and accountability. The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of students and the administrative lapses that could have contributed to the accident.
Around 9 AM on Bypass Road in Bundi two days ago, within the Kotwali police station area, a tragic accident occurred when a roadways bus collided with a motorcycle carrying two medical students. The students, who were on their way to Bundi to catch a bus to Jaipur, were involved in the crash. One student tragically lost his life at the scene, while the other was severely injured and immediately taken to a nearby hospital.

In the wake of the accident, fellow medical students gathered outside the district hospital to protest, demanding justice for the deceased’s family and calling for better safety provisions. The students pointed out the lack of proper infrastructure and safety measures, including bus stops and medical van service.
The protesters demanded that the district collector be called to the scene. However, when no immediate action was taken, the students blocked the road. The protesters demanded financial compensation for the deceased’s family and a government job for his relatives.
According to Bhaskar English, one of the protesting students said, "We've been paying for a bus service to get to and from the college, but there has been no arrangement. It's the college's responsibility to ensure our safety."
During the protests, the police officials attempted to engage with the protesting students, but the students remained steadfast in their demands.

The situation was resolved following discussions with the district collector, who assured the students that their demands would be met. After a discussion, the collector promised that several key measures would be implemented, including the construction of a proper bus stand within 4 to 6 months. Additionally, the collector assured financial assistance for the deceased’s family.
The students also raised concerns about harassment from college faculty members. Following this, a state-level committee will be set up to investigate these allegations and look into the college administration's treatment of students.
The protest ended around 4 PM after the students were given assurances that their concerns would be addressed. Though their grievances were acknowledged, the incident has sparked broader discussions about the safety and well-being of medical students, as well as the responsibilities of educational institutions in ensuring proper infrastructure and support.
