Unqualified plus two student appears for MBBS classes at GMC Kozhikode without knowledge of authorities, Principal files complaint

Kozhikode: In a bizarre incident, it has been revealed that a plus two student attended the first year MBBS classes in Kozhikode Medical College for a few days without the required qualification.

While the girl student hailing from Malappuram district attended the classes for four days, the college authorities did not even have the knowledge about this.

After getting to know about the incident, the principal of the medical college has lodged a complaint in this regard and accused the concerned student of impersonation.

As per the latest media report by The Hindu, the classes for first-year MBBS students started on November 29 and 245 students got enrolled for the classes. The concerned girl student attended classes for four days i.e. from November 29 to December 2. However, she has been absent since December 3.

The college authorities came to know about the matter when the student did not appear foe the class on the fifth day. Thereafter, the authorities verified the registers and found irregularities.

When the admission register did not tally with the register for the attendance, the coordinator of the course found that a girl student attended the classes even though she had not taken admission. The name of the student was found only in the attendance register.

Later, the authorities got to know that the student was actually a Plus Two student and had not even cleared the entrance examination for medical admission i.e. the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).

The daily adds that in a social media post, the girl student had claimed that she had secured MBBS admission at GMC Kozhikode. Following the incident, the principal of the medical college E.V. Gopi lodged a complaint in this regard with the Medical College police and accused the student of impersonation. However, sources from police have informed the daily that a case in this regard has not been registered yet.
