The Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about the allocation made by the UP government for establishing new medical colleges. The government reportedly had allocated Rs 21,000 crore for the establishment of 14 new medical colleges. The information came to light after Suresh Khanna, the state finance minister, presented the budget for the years 2022-2023 on May 26. The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had earlier announced the establishment of a foundation for 14 new medical colleges in the state. The scheme proposed 28 colleges, of which 14 were approved in the two phases. In its budget for 2022-23, the UP government outlined its five-year vision. The allocation was made by the government with an intention to improve the healthcare sector infrastructure. The construction of 14 new medical colleges would reportedly make medical education accessible to students in their own state.
