White Coat Ceremony held at at Virudhunagar government medical college
Tamil Nadu: On Sunday 17 December 2023, the White Coat Ceremony was organised at Virudhunagar Government Medical College (VGMC), Tamil Nadu. The program was organised for newly admitted medical students to the college. In the ceremony, Virudhunagar Collector V.P. Jayaseelan joined asthe Chief Guest, where he urged the newly admitted medical students to take advantage of the resources provided by the institute and its faculty to grow as competent professionals upon graduation.
In the ceremony, all the first-year MBBS students were presented with white coats in front of their parents. On this occasion, V.P. Jayaseelan also emphasised that students should acknowledge the dedication and efforts of their parents who gave their best to facilitate their children’s entry into this noble profession.
According to The Hindu, Jayaseelan also said on the occasion that students should train themselves in a way that they can handle all the latest technologies in the medical field and serve the society, especially the poor and the underprivileged, with full compassion.
Along with the V.P. Jayaseelan, Dean Dr C Anita Mohan, medical superintendent of the college C Arun and deputy medical superintendent N Ambuvel were also present at the white coat ceremony.
Virudhunagar Government Medical College also known as VGMC is located in the Collectorate Master Plan Complex at Kurakundu village in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu. The college was inaugurated on 13 January 2022 by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The institution comprises various departments such as General Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics and many more. From the year 2021-2022 National Medical Commission, New Delhi has sanctioned for admission of 150 M.B.B.S students for every academic year in Virudhunagar Government Medical College (VGMC), Tamil Nadu.
