With 750 MBBS seats, 5 Medical Colleges in Andhra Pradesh to begin admissions this year
Guntur: With a total of 750 MBBS seats, five medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh which recently received the approval of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences and the National Medical Commission are ready to start their UG classes from September this year.
The confirmation in this regard came from Health Minister Vidadala Rajini who said that the new medical colleges set up at Vizianagaram, Nandyal, Eluru, Machilipatnam and Rajahmundry would be inaugurated by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in August and classes would commence from September 1.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that medical colleges at Eluru, Vizianagaram, Rajamahendravaram, Nandyal and Machilipatnam districts of the State will commence the MBBS admission process in 150 MBBS seats each.
To ensure that the academic activities get started by the next year, the posts of Principals and superintendents have already been filled.
The Minister told Telangana Today “After the YSR Congress Party government came to power, we made available 462 medical PG seats. The first medical college was started in the state in Visakhapatnam over 100 years ago and during these hundred years, we had only 11 medical colleges. But after we came to power, we established as many as 17 medical colleges in these four years, spending Rs. 500 crores on each college,” she stated.
The AP Cabinet had earlier given approval for 3,530 posts for five new medical colleges in Nandyal, Machilipatnam, Eluru, Rajamahendravaram and Vizianagaram which are all set to start from the next academic year (2023-24).
As per NMC norms, 222 posts are allotted to each medical college and 484 posts to the affiliated teaching hospital. Accordingly, the Cabinet has decided on 3,530 posts at the rate of 706 posts for each medical college.
