MUHS postpones all BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, Paramedical exams; NO clarity on MBBS
Mumbai: Taking a decision on the conduction of the Summer 2020 examinations amid the ongoing COVID pandemic, the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has postponed the exams for BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS and other paramedical courses.
However, with the MCI's call on the conduction of MBBS and PG medical exams still not declared, there is no clarity on the MBBS exams.
Earlier, the Medical Council of India (MCI) had called for a meeting of all the Vice-Chancellors of all health universities across the country, to discuss and consider the matter, but the decision is still pending. Consequently, there is no decision on MBBS, MD, MS university exams of the MUHS as of now.
The information on the postponement of UG Dental, AYUSH and other paramedical courses university exams came from a recent circular signed by Dr Ajit Pathak, Controller of Examinations at MUHS declaring the said effect.
The circular on the postponement of Summer 2020 examinations clearly mentions that as per references received from the Central Council of Indian Medicine, the following schedule examinations are deferred until further orders.
1) First BAMS (2010), First BAMS (2012), Firs BAMS (2017), Second BAMS (2010), Second BAMS (2012), Second BAMS (2017), Third BAMS (2012) Third BAMS (2017).
2) First BUMS (New), FIrst BUMS (2013), First BUMS (2017), Second BUMS (New), Second BUMS (2013), Second BUMS (2017), Third BUMS (2013) Third BUMS (2017).
Further, with references to the Central Council of Indian Medicine Directives and decisions taken by the University Authorities, the Next academic term of students appearing for the Summer 2020 Examinations will start from 01/08/2020 by offline/online mode depending on the situation and as per the directives of state & Local administration.
The circular further read that as per references received from the Dental Council of India, the following schedule examinations are deferred until further orders.
1) First BDS (New)
2) Second BDS (New)
3) Third BDS (New)
Further, with references to the Dental Council of India Directives and decisions taken by the University Authorities, the Next academic term of students appearing for the Summer 2020 Examination will start from 01/08/2020 by offline/online mode depending on the situation and as per the directives of state & Local administration.
Moreover, the following schedule of examinations are deferred until further orders.
First BHMS ( New), First BHMS (2015), Second BHMS (Old), Third BHMS(Old), Second BHMS (New), Third BHMS (New), Second BHMS (2015), Third BHMS ( 2015).
Further, with references to the decisions taken by the University Authorities. the Next academic term of students appearing for the summer 2020 Examination will start from 01/08/2020 by offline/online mode depending on the situation and as per the directives of state & Local administration.
Meanwhile for Paramedical courses, the circular states:
The following schedule examination are deferred until further orders.
1) B.Sc. in Paramedical Technology -- First Year all Specialties, Second Year all Specialities, This Year all Specialties.
2) Diploma in Paramedical Technology (2014) All Specialities.
3) MPH (Nutrition) (2014) FIrst, Second Third, and Fourth Semesters.
4) MBA ( Health Care administration ) First, Second, Third, and Fourth Semester, MBA (Health Care Administration 2019) FIrst, Second, Semester.
5) M.Sc. (Paramedical Medicine).
6) M.Sc. (Paramedicla Medicine 2017), First and Final Years.
7) Bachelor in Optometry First and Second Years.
8) Diploma in Optometry Fourth Semester.
9) Diploma in Optometry (2017) First and Final Years.
10) Diploma in Ophthalmic Sciences Fourth Semester.
11) Diploma in Ophthalmic Sciences 2017 First and Final Years.
12) Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology (2019).
Further, with references to the decisions taken by the University Authorities, the Next academic term of students appearing for the Summer 2020 Examinations ( except final year students) will start from 01/08/2020 by offline/online mode depending on the situation and as per the directives of state & Local administration.
All those students appearing for the Summer 2020 examination, attending the next academic year classes shall have to pass the deferred Summer 2020 examination as and when conducted.
The Principal of the respective Health Sciences Colleges are further requested to inform all the examinees and to display the notification prominently on their Notice Board for the information of the students and the faculty concerned. The revised dates of examination will be intimated later.
