MUHS postpones final year MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BSc Nursing exams
Maharashtra: The Maharashtra University for Health Sciences (MUHS) has deferred the final year undergraduate examination for MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BSc Nursing courses till March.
The exams were supposed to take place from February 24th; however, the authorities have postponed the exams and now it will be held from March 8th.
The authorities have also confirmed that the examination of first, second, and third-year students will be held as per the schedule and it will commence from March 23rd. MUHS issued a circular on Thursday stating, "Exams for all final year MBBS and BDS (old and new syllabus), Bachelor in Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), basic Bachelor in Science (BSc) in Nursing, will now commence from March 8."
The Controller of the Examination Ajit Pathak confirmed that the decision came following the request of final year students who approached the authorities requesting them to further deffer the final year exams. He told Times of India, "The exams for lower classes, also given by repeaters, just got over on January 15 and the results are being announced now. Many students who are now eligible to appear for final year exams after clearing the lower exams, have asked for more time for preparation."
However, as per a recent media report by Hindustan Times, many of the students are opposing the decision stating that further postponing the exams is not justified especially when final year exams have already been held in most of the other states already.
"All undergraduate exams other than final year exams were conducted across December and January and even the postgraduate course exams have started. Only the final-year UG exams are being postponed with no specific reason," said one of the students. The students are becoming more and more anxious by the constant delay in conducting the final year exams.
