Revaluation not possible, say KNRUHS officials amid concerns over alleged discrepancies in PG exams

Doctor
Hyderabad: Amid the concerns over alleged discrepancies in the evaluation of the postgraduate medical (MD/MS) examinations, conducted by the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) in October 2025, a senior official has clarified that the revaluation will now be permitted for the PG medicos from government and private medical colleges in Telangana.
Deccan Chronicle has reported that, as per the official, revaluation is not allowed under the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) or the National Medical Commission (NMC) rules, and the University has already issued a clarification on the matter.
Meanwhile, the students have submitted a representation seeking grace marks or re-evaluation, alleging unusual timelines, procedural lapses and an abnormally high failure rate compared to previous years.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the students had claimed that there were gross discrepancies and irregularities in the evaluation process of the postgraduate (MD/MS) theory examinations held between October 7 and October 15. Such allegations were also brought against the practical exams held between October 25 and October 30. After the exams, the results were declared on November 4.
Reportedly, 200 out of 1900 candidates failed across government and private colleges. According to the students, compared to previous examinations, the results were released unusually fast, and while previously, the rate of failure for the entire batches was 1-2% the failure rate now stands at 11%.
Questioning the evaluation process, several final-year MD and MS students from the government and private medical colleges, under KNRUHS, have been protesting. These students have cited a recent instance where the University allowed to revaluate a female student's paper and consequently, she was declared passed.
As per the latest media report by Deccan Chronicle, while an official has clarified that revaluation will not be allowed for the PG medicos, the student representatives are now seeking an appointment with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to present their grievances.
Commenting on the matter, a student said, "How will other students get justice? Only one woman’s marks were revised after the committee meeting. There must be transparent video proof of her paper correction. Everyone should be treated equally."
Mentioning that they plan to approach the Chief Minister and the High Court, another student added that the officials should take NMC's permission to review the evaluation procedures. They said, "If one student’s case was considered, the university must verify all answer scripts."
