RGUHS to Set Up Advanced Skill Labs to enhance clinical training

Karnataka- The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) is soon going to set up state-of-the-art skills laboratories at key locations in Karnataka to enhance clinical training through simulation-based education, including the university’s campus in Bengaluru.
Along with this, the University also plans to establish constituent colleges at four locations in Karnataka, which will serve as model institutions for medical and allied health education. This new initiative is part of a broader effort to expand the academic footprint of RGUHS and strengthen healthcare education across Karnataka.
This was announced by Vice-Chancellor Dr Bhagwan BC on the occasion of the 30th foundation day of the university recently.
According to The New Indian Express news report, during the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor said that these state-of-the-art skill laboratories will serve as centralised training centres to promote competency development, patient safety, clinical excellence and practical proficiency. He further added that the proposed colleges will be directly administered by the university to ensure uniform standards and innovation in teaching.
During the budget session, the Karnataka government had announced to build six state-of-the-art laboratories in the state. Apart from Mangaluru, skill laboratories will be set up in Davanagere, Kalaburagi, Mysore, Hubli and Bengaluru. The buildings in Davanagere and Kalaburagi are ready, but the buildings in the rest of the places are yet to be constructed.
Meanwhile, the construction of the permanent campus is nearing completion, which will soon house the RGUHS administrative block. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah laid the foundation stone in January for the building. The construction period was of 21 months. Currently, the university has sought the transfer of 180 acres of land from the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) for further development.
