The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences confirms MBBS exam to be held from Feb 22
Bengaluru: The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) confirmed that the examination will take place as per schedule from February 22, in response to the protests of the final year MBBS students.
Medical Dialogues had reported in January 28 that the students earlier demanded the authorities to change the dates of the examination as the academic session was on hold due to lockdown and pandemic restrictions and also had a syllabus to cover. To which the RGUHS Vice chancellor assured the students that the university will conduct a meeting and announce the final decision on Monday. Following which, the authorities confirmed that the MBBS exams are fixed with the same tentative days as before. Considering the situation, a letter was sent on Tuesday to RGUHS Vice-Chancellor by Health Minister Dr. K Sudhakar asking him to consider the decision by postponing the examination.

In response, the University on the same day issued a circular signed by Dr. Ramakrishna Reddy, stating that "there is no change in final MBBS examinations schedule and also exams will start as per the scheduled date i.e., from 22 February 2022."
Angered by this decision, the students took the issue to Twitter, demanding that the university consider the minister's request. Many students have even asked that the minister clarify the situation in order to prevent confusion among them.

On Tuesday, the minister posted the letter on Twitter, saying, "Considering the plight of MBBS students, I have written to the Vice-Chancellor of RGUHS to consider postponement of final year MBBS exams scheduled from February 22 and reschedule the examination providing sufficient time for preparation."
However, as per reports in The New Indian Express, the circular issued by the university states, "Considering NMC advisory, NEET PG tentative dates and RGUHS convocation schedule, the MBBS course examinations dates are fixed after consultation with principals of affiliated medical college principals, and other course examinations of the university have also been scheduled... The gap of two days between most papers has also been given for the first time."
