WBUHS Invites Online Application For Admission To MSc Medical Biochemistry, MSc Medical Microbiology courses

WBUHS Invites Online Application For Admission To MSc Medical Biochemistry, MSc Medical Microbiology courses

Kolkata: The West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) invited online applications for admission to MSc in Medical Biochemistry and MSc in Medical Microbiology.

The candidates can apply through the website www.wbuhs.ac.in. They will have to pay Rs 5000 for each course through the payment gateway. The candidates are required to be ready with soft copies of all the relevant documents, their scanned signatures of themselves and a recent passport-size photograph which might be needed to be uploaded at the time of application.

Eligibility criteria –

1. MBBS / BSc (Hons) degree in any branch of Life Sciences including Biochemistry, Physiology, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, or B. Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry with Biological Sciences as a pass subject having at least 50% in aggregate in the qualifying examination (45% in case of OBC-A & OBC-B candidates and 40% in case of SC & ST candidates).

2. Candidates who are already pursuing any other course are not eligible for admission. However, candidates completing the course or resigning from the course before the date of counselling will be eligible to get admission.

3. The courses will consider PWD candidates as eligible if they certify their disability to be between 40% - 70% in the lower limb only. The extent of disability will have to be certified by the Dept. of Physical Medicine, IPGME&R for admission and if there is any reservation for the PWD candidates.

Seats available –

A total of 70 seats are available for both the above courses. 10 seats are available for MSc Medical Biochemistry and 60 seats are available for MSc Medical Microbiology.

Admission test –

1. The written test will be held at the University premises at the time and date mentioned above and as instructed in the admit cards.

2. The candidates are required to attend the examination hall half an hour prior to the beginning of the examination and no candidate will be allowed to enter the hall after the examination commences.

3. The examination will be of one hour and twenty minutes in duration during which no candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall under any circumstances even if the candidate has finished the examination. They will leave the examination hall only after all the OMRs are collected and duly matched with the attendance sheet.

4. The candidate will have to carry a valid photo ID (such as a Passport / AADHAR Card / Voter ID / Driving License) which will have to be produced by the invigilator at the examination hall.

5. The candidate can only carry the admit card for the test and the photo ID in the examination hall. The OMR sheet, question paper and ballpoint pen – all will be supplied from the University.

6. The examinations will be of single best response type MCQs set in the English language. The correct response to each of the questions will carry one mark. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.

7. There will be one hundred MCQs in the question paper; set on the standard syllabus prescribed for the qualifying examinations for the respective courses.

Admit cards –

The candidates, who have submitted their applications with successful payment of fees, will download their admit cards as per notification prior to the admission test. There will be no personal communication to the individual candidates from the University about the receipt of Admit Card. No application for non-receipt of admit card will be entertained by the University.

Merit list –

1. Merit list for each of the two courses will be prepared based on the marks obtained on the admission test.

2. If two candidates are seen to be tied on the same score, the one with the lesser wrong response will be placed higher on the merit list. If the tie cannot be broken in this principle; the one with an earlier date of birth will be placed higher on the merit list.

3. There will be separate merit lists indicating the General Rank and the category rank (applicable for the reserved candidates) to be used at the time of counselling.

Admission –

1. The provisional merit list as well as the date and time of counselling will be available on the University website.

2. Offer letter for admission to the course will be given at the time of counselling after successful verification of the testimonials.

3. It is expected that the candidates have ensured that they are eligible to appear in the examination based on the laid down criteria for appearing at the test. There has been no validation of the applications and credentials submitted by the candidates before the test. So if it is found at any stage after the test that there is any discrepancy anywhere in the process of admission, the candidature will be summarily rejected.

Documents to be brought –

1. Admit card of the admission test.

2. Rank letter of the admission test.

3. Class 10 admit card/ Class 10 pass certificate as proof of age.

4. SC/ST/PC/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD certificate.

5. (For OBC, the current certificate is to be provided that the candidate does not belong to the creamy layer of the OBC category).

6. EPIC/Passport/Adhar as a photo identity card.

7. Relevant qualifying Mark sheets.

8. Any other relevant documents.

WBUHS has further notified that all information regarding fees payable or stipends available for the students should always be obtained and confirmed from the individual colleges. WBUHS will not be answerable to any query arising from these issues.
