New Delhi: Further escalating the demands for postponing the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) examination 2023, the aspirants have now approached President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Taking to Twitter, the aspirants are now urging the authorities to defer the examination, which is scheduled to take place on May 7, 2023, to postpone by one month.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported how the aspirants were requesting for postponement of the exam. Among several reasons for deferring the exam, the aspirants referred to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases. Many candidates pointed out that the schedule of the exam on May 7, 2023, is not providing the repeaters adequate time to prepare.

The candidates are using hashtags like #postponeNEETUG2023 to express their problems on Twitter and they are urging the authorities including the National Testing Agency (NTA) to defer the exam schedule.

NEET UG 2023, scheduled to be held on May 7, 2023, will be conducted in 13 languages, i.e., English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The window for submitting applications to appear in the examination has now been closed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the exam is only two weeks away.

20.87 lakh candidates have applied for the crucial exam, over 2.57 lakh more than last year. The gender gap too breached the two lakh-mark with 11.8 lakh female candidates registering, which is 2.8 lakh more than male candidates. The number of male candidates is 9.02 lakh.

While the exam date is drawing near, the aspirants are escalating their demands for postponement. Taking to Twitter, one aspirant tagged the Twitter handles of the President and the Prime Minister of the country and wrote, "#postponeNEETUG2023 Respected Officials @narendramodi @ntaofficialin @Droupati_Murmu @EduMinOfIndia Please Postpone NEET UG 2023 for atleast 1 month ...we have not gotten enough time to prepare well ...as you know NEET is a challenging exam ....To become a Doctor. please respond."

One such user wrote, "We have not got enough time.NEET is a challenging exam.We deserve good amount of preparation time considering all the aspects of this exam. Please postpone NEET UG 2023 for at-least 1 month. Kindly consider students concerns. @DG_NTA @PMOIndia @dpradhanbjp."

Several candidates referred to the rising number of COVID-19 cases and the ongoing heat waves. They also referred to the fact how the aspirants did not get enough time to cover the entire syllabus.

#postponeneetug2023#PostponeNEETUG #NTA @narendramodi @DG_NTAKindly postpone NEET UG 2023 by atleast one or two months as the Neet aspirants got very much less time to cover the whole syllabus.Covid cases are also increasing Heat waves & temp of May month will affect the health

The demand for postponing NEET is not new as for the last few years candidates had been urging the authorities with the same prayer. This year the NEET PG aspirants had also demanded to postpone the exam as they pointed out that the counselling would not start before completion of MBBS internship in August. However, the authorities did not agree to such demands and the NEET PG 2023 exam was conducted as per the schedule on March 5, 2023.
