NEET 2025: Telangana HC issues notice to NTA, Centre over application form correction denial

Telangana High Court
Hyderabad: A 21-year-old medical aspirant from Asif Nagar approached the Telangana High Court after the National Testing Agency (NTA) refused to allow her to correct a mistake in her NEET application form.
According to the petition, the student mistakenly selected Uttar Pradesh instead of Telangana as her state of eligibility. She claimed that she noticed the error soon after submitting the form and immediately applied for a correction. However, the NTA rejected her request through an email, leading her to approach the court.
Taking note of the matter, a vacation bench comprising Justices K Sarath and BR Madhusudhan Rao issued notices to the NTA, the Union Ministry of Education, and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The court asked the respondents to submit their counter-affidavits in the next hearing scheduled on a later date.

The petitioner informed the court that the error was unintentional and that denying her the chance to fix it not only infringes on her rights but also jeopardises her academic future.
According to latest media report by TOI, the petitioner further urged the court to direct the authorities to allow her to correct the form so that she can appear for counselling under the Telangana quota.
Medical Dialogues recently reported that The Madras High Court dismissed a plea seeking re-examination of the National Eligibility-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET) while observing that if any re-exam is permitted on trivial grounds, the same would seriously affect the level playing field of around 22 lakh candidates.
Filing the plea, a group of NEET aspirants sought a re-examination as they claimed that their examination centre was disrupted due to the heavy rainfall and poor management by the centre.
