Patna: Unfolding another development in the NEET paper leak row, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has alleged that the arrested prime accused in the NEET ''paper leak'' is linked to officials associated with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and demanded a probe into it.

According to a PTI report, addressing a press conference, Sinha claimed that the official was in constant touch with Sikander Prasad Yadvendu, the arrested prime accused in the case. “The official associated with Yadav used to arrange accommodation for Sikandar at guest houses in Patna and other places. I have details of messages which the official had sent to the persons concerned for arranging accommodation for Sikandar,” the deputy chief minister said.

He said he has the mobile number from which those messages were sent. Sinha said, "It needs to be thoroughly probed. Why is the RJD leader (Tejashwi Prasad) maintaining a stoic silence on this?"

There are reports suggesting that the accused was also associated with RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, when he was in judicial custody in Ranchi, the deputy chief minister said.

Sinha alleged that the name Sikandar Yadvendu was prominently figuring in the matter who was utilised by the personal secretary Pritam Kumar of the then Minister in a local guest house belonging to the NHAI of irrigation department where a NEET aspirant and his mother had stayed. reports UNI.
Seeking clarification regarding the involvement of the "Mantri ji" and the role of Yaduvendu in the entire matter, Sinha alleged that those caught from the guest house had close links with the former minister Yadav. The guest house was booked without any allotment letter and the people were staying there only based on phone calls. The guest house was booked for the aspirant by the then minister's assistant on a telephonic request made by Sikandar Yadvendu, a close confident of both the Minister and his PA.
He also alleged that Yadvendu managed everything for Lalu when he was behind bars in connection with the multi-crore rupees fodder scam.
Exhibiting the documents Sinha said that the room in the inspection bungalow was booked in the name of one Anurag Yadav mentioned as Mantri ji against his name in the logbook. For this booking, Sikandar Yadvendu, a close associate of Tejaswi Yadav had messaged the latter's PA who inturn book the guest house telephonically.
Anurag Yadav was arrested by Patna police in connection with the NEET question paper leak case. Sinha said that action would be taken against every person involved in the matter. The arrested persons will have to reveal the name of the minister and the powerful persons whom they were utilising in the NEET scam.
He alleged that the RJD was patronising the NEET scam accused either directly or indirectly. The activities of Sikandar Yadvendu appointed in the irrigation department who was brought into the Urban Development Department and became in charge of Danapur locality were being investigated. The power he enjoyed establishes his links with the then powerful minister and RJD leaders, he blamed.
Sinha asked Tejasvi Yadav to reveal the details of his links with Sikandar Yadvendu and Pritam Kumar.
The three other officers including an Assistant Engineer and a Superintending Engineer were suspended with immediate effect for allowing the suspects to stay at the guest house even without allotment. He alleged that all these people were silent even after the matter was doing rounds in every corner across the country. The Silence was tarnishing the entire image of Bihar.
The Minister said that he has ordered to collect the details of those who stayed in the guest houses during the past year and asked to take strong action against those who were trying to defend the state.
Sinha said that he has also requested Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to take a tough stand and maintained that the matter was thoroughly being probed.
He further said that the orders had been issued to investigate the activities of Sikandar Yadvendu who was picked up by the police from Rajvanshi Nagar area on the day when the NEET examination was being conducted.

The Economic Offences Wing of Bihar Police had last month arrested 13 people as part of its investigation into the alleged paper leak in NEET-UG 2024. The arrested accused included examinees, their parents and alleged mastermind Sikander Prasad Yadvendu.

Medical Dialogues recently reported that the four arrested men have confessed that the question paper for the MBBS entrance test was leaked the previous night, as per NDTV report.

These four accused include NEET aspirant Yadav, his uncle Sikandar, who is a Junior Engineer at Danapur Municipal Council, and two others- Nitish Kumar and Amit Anand. They have confessed that they received the question paper for the National Eligibility-and-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 examination on the day before the exam date i.e. May 5, 2024. As per these accused, they were made to memorize the paper. In their statement to the Bihar police officials, these four accused stated that the exact questions were asked in the exam the next day.

Among these four, Yadav, who was taking coaching for the MBBS entrance exam at a Kota-based coaching hub, said that his uncle asked him to return since he had planned to leak the paper

Yesterday, a candidate in the exam, who was arrested for being an alleged accused in the matter, claimed that he got support from a Bihar minister. The accused candidate Yadav showed a letter on the letterhead of the said minister and claimed that using the said letter, he stayed in an NHAI government guest house in Patna. Apart from this, the accused also claimed that he received the same set of questions that came in the NEET exam during his stay at the guest house for remembrance.
