NEET PG 2022 Postponed by 6-8 weeks
New Delhi: In a big relief to the NEET-PG aspirants who were worried about the clash of dates and pending MBBS internship, the Union Health Ministry has decided to postpone the exam by 6-8 weeks.
The Ministry decided to defer the exam which was scheduled to take place on March 12, after it received lots of representations requesting to delay the exam.
In fact, the students had also reached the Supreme Court and prayed for the postponement of the exam. Before the apex court could take any decision regarding the matter, the Union Government intervened.
Announcing the decision to defer the exam, the Directorate General of Health Services mentioned in a notice on Friday, "I am directed to say that a lot of representations were being received from medical doctors regarding request to delay NEET-PG 2022 examination date i.e. 12.03.22 as published in Information Bulletin by NBE (National Board of Examinations) since it is clashing with the NEET PG 2021 counselling. Also, many of the interns would not be able to participate in the PG Counselling 2022 by the month of May/June 2022."

"Keeping the above facts in view, the Hon'ble HFM has taken the decision to postpone NEET PG 2022 by 6-8 weeks or suitably. Hence, the decision made by Hon'ble HFM may be complied with," further read the notice.
Meanwhile, the plea seeking postponement of the NEET PG examination has been listed today for hearing before the Apex Court. Apart from the prayer for the deferring the exam, the petitioner students had also sought an extension of the MBBS internship deadline from May 31 because many of the students were failing to comply with it.
Several hundred MBBS graduates, whose internship got halted due to their duty in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic, would be rendered ineligible from appearing in the NEET-PG test due to lack of mandatory internship duty that too without their fault, the plea said while seeking deferment of the test.
