New Delhi: While considering the case of the NEET PG 2023 applicants, the Telangana High Court has now asked the National Medical Commission (NMC) to reconsider the date of the exam, which is scheduled on March 05, 2023. The aspirants have further moved the Supreme Court with the plea seeking postponement.

Sharing this information on Twitter, the National Chairman of Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), Dr Rohan Krishnan mentioned, "NEET PG dates should be reconsidered as per the order of Telangana High Court. @NMC_IND given two wks for the same . it is more likely that they will come up with New date & not go to SC. I pray to @mansukhmandviya. Sir to gv a date of MAY - JUNE ! @MoHFW_INDIA."

The HC has given the NMC two weeks time for considering the issue of exam postponement. NMC has agreed to the Court's Statement and it might reconsider the NEET PG 2023 exam date, Dr. Krishnan shared in the Tweet.

Although NMC declined to defer the exam and informed the Court about the same, the HC bench after analyzing the merits of the case noted that NMC's actions are bit illegal, read the Tweet by Dr Krishnan who shared the major highlights of the court hearing. Telangana HC will upload the official order by 8 PM tonight.

Meanwhile, after the Union Government authorities denied to postpone the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) Examination 2023, the aspirants have also approached the Supreme Court in this regard.

Referring to this, Dr Rohan Krishnan mentioned in a Tweet, "Students have filed the case in supreme Court today evening.. They will get diary number tomorrow and get listing then. Shall have hearing within 3/4 days. Some senior counsel shall be fighting. We have worked really hard on this case. #NEETPG23 Kp studying! God bless.”

This comes after recently the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya clarified in the Parliament that the NEET PG 2023 examination would be conducted on the scheduled date i.e. March 05, 2023.

Medical Dialogues had reported that while responding to the requests of students across the country for postponing the NEET PG 2023 exam, the Minister informed the Lok Sabha that since the exam date had been announced around five months back, the students should not face any problem to prepare for the exam.

Further, the Health Minister pointed out that in order to ensure that none of the students across India suffers due to eligibility criteria, the Government has extended the cut-off date for completing MBBS Internship till August 11, 2023.

The NEET-PG aspirants have been demanding the postponement of the exam for quite some time. Previously, NBE had announced that NEET PG 2023 will be held on March 05, 2023 and it had fixed the Internship deadline as March 31.

Since thousands of candidates were ineligible due to the Internship Deadline, NBE provided relief and extended the deadline to June 30, 2023. Even then several candidates could not clear the eligibility criteria for appearing in the PG medical entrance test.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that taking up the issue of NEET PG aspirants, FAIMA, FORDA Indian Medical Association (IMA) had approached the Union Health Minister.

Now, NBEMS has further extended the Internship Deadline of NEET PG aspirants till August 11 while keeping the exam date same as before. Therefore, the PG medical aspirants are complaining that they have to stand idle for four to five months since the counselling process cannot start before September, 2023.

Recently, Dr Rohan Krishnan met with the Union Health Minister and explained to him about the problems faced by the aspirants. At that time also, the Union Health Minister had advised the aspirants to focus on their studies.

Met Honourable @mansukhmandviya Sir & President NBE and have requested both of them to consider Pleas of students and Postpone NEET PG .
Sir has requested students to focus on studies.
Let’s hope for the best. NBE and Ministry will do smth fr us.

Now, Dr Krishnan has informed that the aspirants have filed a case in this regard before the Supreme Court.

Shall have hearing within 3/4 days.
Some senior counsel shall be fighting.

Meanwhile, Dr. Krishnan also shared that that the Telangana High Court has considered a similar matter and given the National Medical Commission (NMC) two weeks time to consider the exam postponement. NMC has agreed to the Court's Statement and it might reconsider the NEET PG 2023 exam date.

NEET PG dates should be reconsidered as per the order of Telangana High Court. @NMC_IND given two wks for the same . it is more likely that they will come up with New date & not go to SC.
I pray to @mansukhmandviya Sir to gv a date of MAY - JUNE ! @MoHFW_INDIA @FAIMA_INDIA_ pic.twitter.com/Rxeemt1oS6

— Dr. Rohan Krishnan (@DrRohanKrishna3) February 15, 2023

Speaking about this, Dr Krishnan told Medical Dialogues, "We welcome the decision of Telangana High Court where they have instructed the National Medical Commission to come up with a new date for NEET PG 2023. I think this case was very genuine and we were fighting it from the very beginning. The NMC should avoid such ignorance towards the pleas of associations of doctors and this should have been done without the interference of the court. However, I hope that the students get what they dream of and get admitted to their desired branches."
