NIHFW to conduct Online Training Course on Basic Infertility Management
New Delhi: The National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW) is going to conduct for Online Training Course on Basic Infertility Management for Healthcare Professionals from 10th-12th November 2021.
The training course is designed to enable the health care professionals in developing the competencies in basic management of infertility at the healthcare facilities. The learning will upgrade their skills and will be helpful in the capacity building of health care professionals.

About the Institute
The National Institute of Health and Family Welfare is a premier autonomous Institute, funded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It has kept pace with the new thinking and substantially contributed to the health human resource development in the country.
NIHFW serves as an apex "technical institute" as well as a "think tank" to promote national health and family welfare programmes in the country through education and training, research and evaluation, consultancy and advisory services, specialised projects, etc.
Introduction
According to the Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction, infertility currently affects about 10 to 14 percent of the Indian population, with higher rates in urban areas where one out of six couples is impacted. Nearly 27.5 million couples actively trying to conceive suffer from infertility in India. This training programme is proposed to build the capacity of health care providers to provide the basic management of infertility.
General Objectives
To enable the health care professionals in developing the competencies in basic management of infertility among infertile couples at the health facilities.
Specific Objectives
At the end of the training course, the participant would be able to:
o Enumerate important points in couple history
o Describe and identify male and female factors responsible for infertility
o List the steps in the clinical evaluation of infertility
o Describe the management of most common causes of male & female infertility and counselling of the infertile couples for stress management.

Course Contents
o Female and male reproductive physiology
o Understanding infertility and its causes
o Clinical work-up of infertile couple
o Basic management of infertility including the ovulation induction protocols and counselling for stress management
Methodology
The course will be conducted online in real-time. After payment of Course Fee & Registration, a Google Meet link will be shared with the participants to join the session. The course consists of interactive learning through lectures, discussions and video demonstrations.
Duration
Three days (The programme duration/time commitment is 2 hours 30 minutes per day in the forenoon and 1 hour 15 minutes in the afternoon).
Nature of Participants
Service providers (MBBS and/or postgraduates) employed in the state health facilities at district level and below, faculty/ residents/ medical officers in Medical College or Central Government health facilities from departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology/ Medicine/ Surgery/ Pathology, health care professionals working in the Defence forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guards), Paramilitary Forces (CRPF, CISF, ITBP, BSF, SSB, BSF, AR) of India and other organizations such as ESI, Railways, etc.
Pre-requisite for Training
The registered participants must have dedicated access to Computer/Laptop with web cam, microphone, speaker and internet facility.
Training Outcome
The training will be helpful in the capacity building of health care professionals in developing the competencies in basic management of infertility.
