NMC Approves 100 MBBS Seats at Nagaon Medical College
Guwahati: After the Kokrajhar Medical College, now the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given its permission for Nagaon Medical College adding another 100 MBBS Seats to the seat matrix of Assam.
Sharing this information on Twitter, the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, "A shot in the arm! The Letter of Intent issued by @NMC_IND to Nagaon Medical College for 100 MBBS seats will boost to our efforts to improve healthcare. It has become the State's 11th medical college to receive Letter of Intent and 2nd this year after Kokrajhar Medical College."
The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC has already issued the Letter of Intent for the Nagaon Medical College. "The acceptance letter may be sent within 1(one) weeks from the date of issue of this letter to enable the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) to issue Letter of Permission for the academic year 2023-2024," the NMC board mentioned in the letter.
"It shall be incumbent upon the Medical College that the information relating to admission should be submitted within the time specified in the circular in this regards issued by this office from time to time. Any failure to submit the information within the time limit would be construed that the admission in the college were not in accordance with law against the college," the letter further stated.

The NMC nod for Nagaon Medical College has come only a few days after the Apex medical commission approved 100 MBBS Seats at Kokrajhar Medical College.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that NMC gave its permission for 100 MBBS seats at the newly constituted Kokrajhar Medical College, Kokrajhar for the academic session 2023-2024.
Recently the MoS Health Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar had informed the Parliament that Assam has a total number of 10 medical colleges with an intake capacity for 1250 MBBS seats. With the NMC nod for 100 MBBS seats at Kokrajhar medical college and Nagaon Medical Colleges each, another 200 MBBS seats have been added to the seat matrix.
