NMC approves 50 additional MBBS seats at GMC Agartala

Agartala: To boost medical education in Tripura, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved an increase of 50 additional MBBS at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) for the academic year 2026-27.
The college currently has an intake of 150 MBBS seats. With the addition of 50 seats, its total MBBS intake has now increased to 200, as per the updated undergraduate seat matrix issued by the NMC's Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB).
The officials told UNI that the increase will provide more opportunities to aspiring medical students in Tripura to pursue their MBBS education within the state, contributing to the growing medical education capacity in the region.
Meanwhile, the other two medical colleges in the state, including Tripura Medical College and Tripura Santiniketan Medical College, each have an intake of 150 MBBS seats. This brings the combined MBBS seat capacity of the three medical colleges in Tripura to 500.
