NMC seat Matrix 2026-27: 592 DM Cardiology seats listed, 74 in Tamil Nadu

New Delhi: DM Cardiology has 592 seats across medical colleges in India for the academic year 2026-27, according to the latest postgraduate medical seat matrix released by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
As per the list, the highest number of DM Cardiology seats is 74 in Tamil Nadu among all states and Union Territories, while Puducherry has the lowest DM Cardiology seats with just 1 seat.
Medical Dialogues earlier reported that the NMC released a seat matrix on September 29 showing a total of 63,177 MD, MS, Diploma, DM and MCh medical seats for the academic year 2026-27. However, the NMC clarified that the latest seat matrix does not include seats related to applications received for an increase in the intake of existing PG courses or for the commencement of new PG courses for the academic year 2026-27.
State-wise distribution
After Tamil Nadu, Karnataka has 71 DM Cardiology seats; Uttar Pradesh has 59 seats, Maharashtra has 52 seats, Rajasthan has 51 seats, Kerala has 40 seats, Telangana has 32, Andhra Pradesh has 31, Gujarat has 29, and Madhya Pradesh has 28 seats.
The NMC matrix also shows 27 DM Cardiology seats in West Bengal, 21 each in Delhi and Odisha, and 21 in Delhi. Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Assam have 9 seats each, while Punjab has 8 and Haryana has 6 seats.
Among the remaining states and Union Territories, Bihar, Goa and Rajasthan have 3 seats each; Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Meghalaya have 2 seats each. Puducherry has the lowest number with one DM Cardiology seat.
