NMC Recognises MBBS Degree of 2016-17 Batch Students at Nahan Medical College
Solan: In the latest development, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted recognition to the MBBS degree of around 100 students of 2016-17 batch, who were pursuing their medical education from Dr. YS Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan.
Following this, Nahan Medical College has become the third Government medical college in the State to have earned recognition by the apex medical education regulatory body, NMC. The other two colleges, having NMC recognition, are Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, and Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda.
Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College, aka Nahan Medical College was established back in 2016. Located in Nahan, Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, the medical college is affiliated to Atal Medical and Research University, earlier known as Himachal Pradesh University of Health Sciences.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Medical College was upgraded from Nahan District Hospital to Dr YS Parmar Government Medical College in the year 2016 by then Union Health Minister JP Nadda. The medical institute had been allotted 100 MBBS seats since its inception. However, 20 more were added after the centre decided to implement EWS quota (Economically weaker Sections) from 2019.
