NTA likely to announce NEET 2022 date by Next Week
New Delhi: Putting an end to the anticipation of the medical aspirants, the National Testing Agency will most possibly announce the schedule for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) examination next week.
The confirmation regarding this came from a senior official who is familiar with the development. The official informed PTI that the schedule for NEET-UG will be announced by NTA along with the schedule for JEE (Main), and CUCET sometime next week.
"The Medical Advisory Council of the National Medical Commission had a meeting with National Testing Agency (NTA) last week. The schedule for the three entrance exams is likely to be announced sometime next week," the official told PTI.
NEET-UG is the centralized common entrance examination, which all the medical aspirants in India must pass in order to secure admission in the MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS programmes. Apart from this, NEET score is also valid for admission to BSc Nursing and BSc Life Sciences courses.
Last year, the NEET-UG 2021 exam was scheduled to be held in August 1. However, due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the exam got postponed and was rescheduled for September 12.
More than 95 per cent of the registered candidates had appeared for the medical entrance exam, adds PTI. Over 15.44 lakh candidates had appeared for the exam which was conducted at 3,858 centres in 13 languages in 2021. Over 8.70 lakh candidates had qualified the exam.
However, even after the examination process was over, the counselling for MBBS admission got delayed because of several pending legal procedures before the High Court and Supreme Court.
This decision was taken at a council meeting that was held last week. In that meeting, NTA was asked to decide the schedule for NEET-UG entrance test as per "its convenience". The agency was further directed for picking a date in the third or fourth week of June.
