Rajasthan Medical Council Cancels Internship of 3 FMGs for Submitting Fake Degrees

Jaipur: Taking action against three foreign medical graduates (FMGs) who submitted fake documents, the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC) has cancelled their internships.
This came to light during the verification process conducted by the medical council in May, 2024. Confirming this development, the registrar of RMC Dr. Rajesh Kumar Sharma informed that the internship of Raj Kumar Meena, Ankur Kumar, and Himanshu Chauhan were cancelled, TOI has reported.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that RMC had invited applications from medical graduates from abroad to enrol into the internship programme. As per the rules, it is mandatory for the FMGs to clear the screening test, i.e. the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE), and thereafter undergo the mandatory internship as per the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
According to the first merit list, released by the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC), 1136 candidates applied for enrolment in the FMG internship, altogether 766 students were allotted seats.

As per the latest media report by the Times of India, during the verification process in May, the Rajasthan Medical Council found that three graduates who had applied for internships in the State were found to possess fraudulent documents.
Three doctors, Raj Kumar Meena, Ankur Kumar, and Himanshu Chauhan had allegedly submitted the fraudulent documents. Taking note of this, the medical council cancelled their internships, informed the Registrar of the Medical Council Dr. Rajesh Kumar Sharma.
Meanwhile, through a recent notice, the National Medical Commission (NMC) announced that all the medical graduates from abroad who have sufficiently compensated classes in physical onsite in lieu of the online classes and who have cleared the equivalent exam to MBBS in India, shall be eligible for one-year mandatory internship.
This comes after earlier this month, the Council had decided not accepting the compensatory certificates obtained by the FMGs. Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that through the notice dated 07.06.2024, NMC announced that it would not accept the compensatory certificates obtained by FMGs from their parent institutes abroad.
However, FMGs started opposing this decision and reached the NMC office to express their objections regarding the same. Recently, after a meeting with the NMC officials, FMG representatives claimed that NMC had assured them to amend its earlier notice.
Thereafter, modifying its stand on the matter, NMC clarified that all the other conditions will remain the same as mentioned in the public notice dated 07.12.2023, through which NMC had issued clarifications on various issues related to the FMGs from Ukraine, recognition of BS course, issue of FMG internship etc.
