Soon Medical Students of Maharashtra-Karnataka border to get reservation for 120 seats
Belagavi: Bringing good news to the medical aspirants belonging to Maharashtra-Karnataka border areas, the number of reserved medical seats for those students is going to double.
Until now, there used to be 60 reserved seats for the students of border areas. However, taking note of the growing demand for more seats, the Government will shortly increase the number of reserved medical seats to a total number of 120.
The confirmation regarding this came from the President of the Nationalist Congress Party, Sharad Pawar while he was attending the valedictory ceremony of the Golden Jubilee celebration of Dakshin Maharashtra Shikshan Mandal, Belagavi.
It was also the occasion of the centenary celebration of Rashtraveer, weekly of Chatrapati Shahu Prakashan Mandal, Belagavi.
Apart from the NCP chief, KLE Society's Chairman Dr Prabhakar Kore, Chandgad MLA Rajshekhar Patil, Vice President of DMS Mandal Rajabhau Patil, Secretary Vikram Patil were also present at the occasion.
While attending the function that was held at DMS Mandal's Jyoti PU College Belagavi on Wednesday, May 11, the NCP chief confirmed the increased reservation of medical seats for the students belonging to the Karnataka-Maharashtra border areas.
As per the latest media report by Edex Live, confirming the upcoming policy in this regard, Sharad Pawar said, "A decision to increase reservation of medical seats to 120 seats for the students belonging to Karnataka-Maharashtra border areas will be taken shortly."
"Presently, Maharashtra government has reserved 60 medical seats for the students of border areas. As these seats are falling too short and there is a demand for more seats, the health minister of Maharashtra will be directed to double the seats for the students of border areas," NCP chief Sharad Pawar added.
