Health Officials Injured in Boulder Incident Amid Landslides
Haldwani: Amid ongoing extreme weather events in northern India, two government health officers sustained injuries when a large boulder, dislodged by continuous rainfall and landslides, struck their vehicle on the Haridwar–Nainital Route on September 2, 2025.
Their vehicle had just reached the area near Aam Parao on the Nainital-Haldwani road when suddenly a giant boulder came crashing down from the hill. The driver tried to escape, but the boulder hit the bonnet of the vehicle. Fortunately, neither of them suffered much injury in the accident. But after the accident, a long queue of vehicles was formed on the road, reports the Uttarakhand News Network.

Both injured individuals were immediately sent to Haldwani for medical treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.
The incident is part of a broader weather crisis affecting North India, where persistent heavy rainfall has triggered widespread landslides, flash floods, and infrastructure breakdowns. In Uttarakhand, one of the worst-hit states, a series of cloudbursts in August led to devastating flash floods and landslides, which have left at least 69 people missing and thousands displaced.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in northwest India, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Haryana, among others, until September 7, reports the Lokmat Times.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that the Jammu and Kashmir health and medical education department has reinforced critical infrastructure to ensure optimal patient care as a massive cloudburst struck a remote mountain village in the Kishtwar district, resulting in multiple fatalities. Disaster struck Chositi, the last motorable village on the way to Machail Mata temple, leaving 46 people dead, including two CISF personnel.
