Bihar Hospital Owner Death: Husband arrested, was allegedly having an affair with hospital employee

Patna: In a latest development in the murder case of 35-year-old Surabhi Raj, the director of Asia Hospital in Agamkuan, who was shot inside her chamber, the police in charge of the case arrested five individuals, including her husband and brother-in-law, on charges of conspiracy and destruction of evidence.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Surabhi's husband, Rakesh Roshan, the owner of the hospital, her brother-in-law Ramesh Kumar alias Atul Kumar, a female hospital staff member, Anil Kumar, the hospital’s HR head, Masood Alam and another male staff member. All of them were sent to jail after police confirmed their involvement in the plan to execute Surabhi.

Medical Dialogues recently reported that a 35-year-old woman, who was the co-owner of Asia Hospital in Patna’s Agamkuan area, was shot dead by a group of five to six unidentified assailants on Saturday. The attackers, posing as patients, entered her chamber at the hospital and fired indiscriminately at her before fleeing the scene. She was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna, but succumbed to her injuries.
According to the police, she was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple bullet wounds. During the investigation, officers recovered six bullet casings from the crime scene and confirmed that the director sustained at least four bullet injuries.
Almost on the verge of solving Surabhi's mysterious murder, the police found during the investigation that the motive behind her murder could be linked to Rakesh Roshan’s alleged extramarital affair with a staff member.
According to a TOI news report, Surabhi discovered that Rakesh was having an affair with a 30-year-old woman employed at the same hospital. On the day of her death, she visited the hospital to confront him about the affair. Enraged by this, Rakesh conspired with his accomplices to murder his wife, and they carried out the plan that day.
Before sending her body for a post-mortem on that day, the police, while conducting a preliminary investigation, discovered signs of blunt force trauma on her face. Based on the visible marks, the police found out that she was brutally assaulted before being shot to death by the assailants five times at close range.
When the police asked Rakesh about his whereabouts on the day of the incident, he told the police that he had left for a meeting outside before being informed about the shooting.
Besides the affair angle, the police are also investigating the possibility of a financial dispute, as they discovered that the couple had recently acquired two adjacent buildings for the hospital's expansion. Surabhi was reportedly actively involved in the hospital's operations over the past two months.
During their investigation at the crime scene, police recovered a laptop, multiple SIM cards and other items. A bullet-riddled mobile phone that belonged to Raj was allegedly found in her husband Roshan’s possession.
ASP Jha told TNIE, "Six bullet casings were recovered from the scene. Despite this, hospital staff initially said they had not heard any gunshots during the incident. This raised suspicions of internal involvement and led to further questioning of employees. Before we arrived at the scene, hospital staff reportedly attempted to clean up traces of blood to obscure evidence."
To prevent the police from identifying the assailants, the CCTV cameras near Surabhi's chamber were deliberately malfunctioned just days before the incident.
