20 Quacks caught in Telangana Medical Council Raids
Hyderabad: The Telangana Medical Council conducted a significant raid on Sunday, uncovering 20 persons posing as doctors. This operation represents a crucial step in upholding the integrity of healthcare services in the region.
The raids, led by Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) Chairperson K Mahesh Kumar and Vice-Chairperson Dr Srinivas Gundagani, covered multiple areas such as LB Nagar, Saroornagar, Musarambagh, Vanasthalipuram, and Shaheed Nagar. These inspections were part of a broader initiative to ensure that only qualified and certified individuals can practice medicine in the region.

The TGMC has announced that legal action will be taken against the accused individuals under Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, 2019. These sections address the illegal practice of medicine and related offences, emphasizing the seriousness of the charges against the fake doctors. The TGMC’s enforcement of this Act highlights its commitment to upholding these standards and protecting public health.
“Rural Medical Practitioners (RMPs) and Paramedical Practitioners (PMPs) lack the necessary qualifications and should not be practicing medicine,” Dr Srinivas Gundagani stated, according to The Hindu.
The discovery of 20 fake doctors in Hyderabad emphasizes the vital role of regulatory bodies in maintaining the integrity of the healthcare system. The TGMC’s decisive measures reflect a broader commitment to safeguarding public health and upholding high standards in medical practice.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported a similar case where a quack was arrested in Uppal, Hyderabad, for operating an illegal medical clinic. Authorities seized a significant amount of unlicensed medicines and medical equipment during the raid. The clinic had been functioning without the required medical licenses and was found to be administering unauthorized treatments.
