The recruited AYUSH doctors will be posted at the Panchakarma centres as well as in primary healthcare centres (PHC), community health centres (CHC) and health and wellness centres.
Ranchi: In a bid to provide better healthcare facilities to the people, Chief Minister Hemant Soren handed over appointment letters to 217 AYUSH doctors marking the event as the first time in the history of Jharkhand to recruit doctors in a bulk.
Soren said the state government is continuously moving in the direction of providing better healthcare facilities to the people.
Addressing an event organized by the health department after handing over appointment letters on a contract basis to the doctors in the AYUSH sector, Soren said his government is committed to ensuring studies in Unani, Ayurvedic and Homeopathy.
He said appointment letters have been handed over to 217 doctors so that people living in rural areas get the benefits of AYUSH treatment. He said the Ayurvedic Unani and Homeopathy modes of treatment were in practice ages before the modern means of treatment came into existence.

Soren said that for the development of the AYUSH sector, his government will soon start a course where Unani, Ayurvedic, and Homeopathic systems will be taught.
Meanwhile, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Jharkhand government and Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospitals in Rajkot and Ahmedabad.
