30-year-old doctor- hospital MD commits Suicide alleging harassment; 7 booked
Hyderabad: In an unfortunate incident, a 30 year-old doctor working as a Managing Director at Sri Vaishnavi Hospitals here; ended his life by hanging to a ceiling fan in cabin at the hospital premises.
A suicide note was recovered from his diary by the police, where the doctor was seen blaming the owner of the hospital building and his henchmen for harassment and mental torture. Based on the note and the complaint lodged by the wife of the deceased doctor, the police have booked the accused for abetment to suicide under IPC 306.
According to recent media reports, the doctor founded the hospital in 2014 and at the rented building. The building owner wanted him to vacate the premises, but the doctor was reluctant to do so. On this, a dispute had erupted between the two. Harassed over the same for the past one month, the doctor reportedly committed suicide.
The tragic incident took place around 2 AM on 4th February when the doctor went inside his cabin and did not come out for hours. An employee of the hospital went to check on him and knocked on the door. As he did not receive a response, he broke open the cabin door and found the doctor's body hanging from the ceiling fan by a rope.
The doctor's wife and the police were immediately informed about the incident.
During preliminary investigations, the police found a suicide note written by the doctor in his personal diary wherein he mentioned some names of the people and stated they are responsible for his death and they were harassing him mentally. Deccan Chronicle quotes his suicide note as stating:
"I am thinking of leaving this world. As I am unable to bear the cheating of certain persons. Whenever I die, these are the people responsible for my death — the owner of the building, former sarpanch of Turkayamjal, a relative of the building owner and a colony president."
Meanwhile, in her complaint, the wife stated that building owner has been harassing and pressuring the doctor to vacate the premises and made his henchmen, former sarpanch of Turkayamjal and 5 others to file a case against the doctor. She mentioned that the building owner's friend Kondal Reddy had disconnected power supply and asked the hospital staff to vacate the premises.
"For a month, my husband has been facing problems because of them. Earlier, they had cut the electricity supply to the hospital, threatened nurses to vacate the hospital and damaged my husband's image in society. Though my husband had helped one of the accused financially, he harassed him," she told the police.
"The victim was allegedly vexed by their harassment, which was also affecting his reputation for the past few months. Due to this, he took the extreme step," LB Nagar inspector V Ashok Reddy informed TOI.
Hindu reports that the police have registered a case under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC against the seven accused mentioned in the diary and launched an investigation. The police would send the diary to Forensic Science Laboratory to confirm whether it was the doctor who wrote the note.
Further investigation is underway.
