45-year-old BAMS doctor dies in fire at Jalore Ayurveda hospital

Jalore: A tragic incident occurred at Ummedabad Ayurveda Hospital in Bishangarh when a devastating fire claimed the life of a doctor living on the hospital campus. The doctor was reportedly burnt alive in the fire that broke out in his residence.

According to the police investigation, the doctor who had been suffering from knee and body pain, may have been unable to escape quickly when the fire broke out. Due to his limited movement, he may have been trapped in the room as the fire spread rapidly.

The incident has raised suspicions among the police, particularly given that the house has been without electricity for the past year. Preliminary investigations indicate that a cigarette may have ignited the fire. It appears that the fire spread so fast that the doctor was unable to escape in time.

The doctor has been identified as Dr Murarilal Meena, a 45-year-old Ayurvedic practitioner who had been staying alone in his quarters behind the hospital after his family left for a wedding in Jaipur’s Kartarpura two months ago.

Bishangarh Station House Officer (SHO) Nimbaram told HT, "Meena lived with his family in a room on the hospital premises. However, his family had gone to Jaipur’s Kartarpura two months ago for a wedding and he was alone at the time of the incident."

The incident took place on Sunday night when the doctor was asleep in his room. The fast spreading of the fire left him with no chance to escape the room. Although the incident happened at night, it wasn’t until Monday morning that locals noticed smoke rising from the residence and alerted the police.

It is presently unclear exactly how the room caught on fire but the police are exploring all possible angles to determine the cause behind the fire.
