Unnatural Death Registered After Doctor’s Body Found in Talgaon
Panaji: The decomposed body of a 60-year-old doctor from Tamil Nadu was found in a flat in Talgaon on Thursday, prompting an investigation by the Panaji police.
The deceased, identified as Dr. Franklin Dias, had been residing alone in a rented apartment at 'Apsara Manzil' in the Barbhat area of Talgaon. According to reports, he had not been seen for several days, raising concern among neighbours. A foul odour coming from his first-floor apartment led them to notify the Panaji police. Upon arrival, officers knocked on the door and attempted to call out to the doctor. Receiving no response, they forcibly entered the flat and found Dr. Dias lying motionless on the bed in a severely decomposed state.

Upon inspection, police did not find anything suspicious in the flat. After the panchnama, the body was sent to GMC for further examination. Police suspect that the cause of death may be related to heart disease, although this can only be confirmed after a post-mortem examination.

According to Dainik Goamnatak, Dr. Franklin Dias had not been out of the flat for the past few days. Therefore, the neighbouring flat owners did not even know whether he was inside or not. The incident came to light when a rotten smell started coming from the flat today. It is possible that the doctor had a heart attack in his sleep and died in it. An autopsy will be performed after his family reaches Goa. Only then will his death be revealed, said police officials.
