There are currently 181 posts of doctors lying vacant at various government hospitals in the district. Only 83 are filled out of the total 264 sanctioned posts. After these 93 doctors join duty, 88 would remain vacant.
Karnal: The government has allotted 93 medical officers (MOs) to the government-run hospitals in the districts which have been affected by the shortage of doctors for the last several months. The present move is aimed at overcoming the shortage.
A list of 847 newly recruited doctors was released on August 12, who were given 15 days to join at the designated stations. Out of them, 93 doctors have been allotted to Karnal district.
Out of the 93, 37 doctors have registered with the Civil Surgeon's office till Tuesday afternoon and 11 of them have submitted their medical fitness certificates.
