Alleged medical negligence: 3 doctors of Kujang CHC booked after patient dies during treatment

Jagatsinghpur: A case of alleged medical negligence has come to light where three doctors of Kujang Community Health Centre (CHC) have been booked on grounds of mistreating a patient leading to his death.
The matter is currently under investigation, and three doctors, including Ayush, MBBS doctors and 1 other doctor from the health centre, have been charged with a criminal case under sections 304A and 34 of the IPC.
The incident highlights that the 57-year-old patient was taken to the health centre subsequent to experiencing chest pain when his condition deteriorated on Thursday night.
According to TNIE reports, while the patient was waiting for treatment, he was diagnosed and treated differently by three doctors at the centre. At first, an Ayush doctor initially examined him and prescribed medications for gastric issues. When Nath's condition did not improve, another doctor administered him an injection. However, his condition got even worse after the injection.
Following this, an MBBS doctor assessed him upon arrival at the centre an hour later. After evaluating his condition and his prescription, the doctor referred him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Unfortunately, the patient passed away on his way.
Angered over the loss, the family members of the patient accused the doctors of medical negligence and approached the police station to take action against them.
Acting on the complaint of the bereaved family, the police registered an FIR under Section 304A about causing death by negligence, and Section 34 which deals with acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention.
In contrast to the accusations, CHC superintendent Prasanna Panda has denied the allegations and the charges labelled against the doctors.
